General Plan
Richmond City has begun the process of reviewing, revising, and updating the General Plan (or Master Plan) for the city. A committee consisting of council members, P&Z members, city employees, and citizens held the first meeting of this process on February 24th. Their contact information is here if you'd like to share your vision of what Richmond should be in the future.
The General Plan was last updated in 1999. Past and present city councils and the P&Z commission rely on it for guidance. It is not an ordinance but a guidance document for how Richmond will grow and where, what amenities to develop (parks, trails), and where roads should be constructed, among other things.
The committee will meet at least once a month as the different parts of the Plan are reviewed and discussed and will share their thoughts on the future of Richmond. Citizens are strongly encouraged to contact the committee members with your ideas and suggestions. In addition to meetings, there will be site visits to the city's water and sewer plants, road reviews, etc. At least one survey will be conducted to gain input from the citizens of Richmond; PLEASE take the time to respond thoughtfully to it.
Once the committee has developed a draft plan, it will go to the P&Z Commission for review and tweaking. After P&Z has approved the plan, it then goes to the city council for another review before being adopted. Along the way, there will be public hearings for additional input from the citizens.
This is YOUR plan and vision for Richmond's future. Be a part of Making Life Better in our town!
